The pictures in Section A illustrate the difficulties patients will face in accessing the proposed Pharmacy It is planned to be located within a very small area inside the single room of a busy rural Post Office. The main street through Leuchars is already very narrow and is currently scheduled to become a 20 MPH zone with additional traffic calming measures to enforce this. These pictures were taken in August 2009. In snow and ice conditions in winter the risk for disabled patients is a very real one.
Section B shows the excellent purpose built facilities we currently enjoy at the surgeries in Leuchars and Balmullo
Section A
Picture 1

This shows the narrowness of the road. The Post Office is just beyond the white van on the right hand side. There is no parking allowed outside the post office and the only limited parking is some way away and up a step flight of steps.
Picture 2
Showing the narrow curving road to the west and how the road going past the Post Office entrance, which is just out of the sight line on the right hand side, is double yellow lined.
Picture 3

The figure is seen approaching the door of the POST OFFICE on the left. It demonstrates uneven ground and narrow pavement for wheelchair access and the sheer impossibility of constructing a pavement ramp without encroaching on the already cramped area of the post office.
Picture 4

The access to the post office is through a doorway with a raised step from a very narrow external pavement.
Picture 5

The steps down from limited car parking to the rear of the post office

Balmullo Surgery with purpose built dispensing services, excellent access for car parking and disabled patients.
Picture 7

Leuchars Surgery, also purpose built to include dispensing services. Note the ramp to the entrance and disabled parking bays. This surgery may close if the commercial pharmacy goes ahead.
Picture 8

A patient collecting their prescription from the Balmullo surgery’s excellent dispensing facility. There are rooms available within the surgery for private discussions to meet patient needs for privacy concerning dispensary matters. The same facility is available at leuchars
